Have you ever seen a big brother absolutely giddy … we have! We cuddled this big brother up to baby sister and his expressions were priceless. Such love in this family of four.
I recently read yet another article about the importance of family portraits. The article cited a pediatrician and psychologist who explained that children better understand their place in the family when they “see” family portraits displayed in their home. It continued to explain that a child’s sense of identity and self-worth can be heightened when they see their role within their family unit, and visualizing family photos contributes to this. It was one of those articles you read that leaves quite an impression.
As a mom, I would take it a step further to say that seeing family portraits displayed in your home speaks to all family members. We have moved a few times over the years, and each time our new house never felt like “home” until my babies’ portraits were on the wall … it just gives a sense of completion to have family portraits displayed. In addition, every time I walk past the walls of our home and see my children’s portraits, it warms my heart and reminds me of the beautiful blessing of family. I think it adds value to dad’s view too, as he sees his heritage, his future, his heart, and it reminds him that this is where he escapes all the pressures of the day….right here, in his little piece of paradise, his family.
